ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Cambridge High School Lady Bobcats put together a solid team effort to defeat St. Clairsville 56-43 in Buckeye 8 basketball action Thursday night.
“The whole team played as one group,” Cambridge coach Logan McCort said. “It was awesome to see.”
The Bobcats fell behind 14-9 in the first quarter but scored an incredible 26 points in the second period to take a 14-point 35-21 lead at the half.
Emma Krise led the Bobcats attack with 13 second-quarter points while Eva Lamphear added four, and Jada Hall and Kiara Murphy each pitched in with three.
“We really took control of the game in the second quarter and never looked back,” McCort said. “I just can’t emphasize enough how well they played together.”
The Lady Cats outscored the Red Devils 12-10 in the third quarter to add to the lead. Krise scored six more while Lamphear added two more buckets and Khloe Seresun added a basket. Gracen Kinnan got into the action with four points in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats cruised to the 13-point victory.
In the game, Krise led Cambridge with 24 points, while Lamphear added 11 and Murphy 10.
The Lady Bobcats are now 3-4 surpassing the total number of wins they had last season. They play again Friday at Marietta against Marietta and on Saturday at Marietta against Barnesville.
