CCSD Announced Financial Update Livestream Available on Facebook
Cambridge City School District Superintendent Dan Coffman shared with the Board of Education plans to provide an update on the district’s finances during the Board meeting Tuesday night.

Treasurer Ed Wright, Business Manager Dave Caldwell and Coffman will host a livestream event on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. to provide the information regarding the district’s financial situation.

“We have a renewal operating levy on the ballot, and we want to let the community know how we have spent that funding during the past five years,” Coffman said. “We also will talk about efficiencies, cost savings, grant opportunities we have implemented as well as how we leveraged existing assets and stabilized the district’s finances.”

The operating levy was last renewed in 2016 and generates the same $1.455 million per year it did in 1992, the first year it was passed. The levy funds support the operations of the school district and pays for utilities, consumable supplies, and salaries and benefits of employees.
“There are lot of good things happening in the school district right now,” Coffman said. “We hope we can continue to do those things moving forward.”

During the livestream event prior to the BOE meeting and during the meeting, Coffman shared that the 21st Century After School program started this week with more than 150 students participating.

“This program, along with the Summer CATS Camp, continues to grow and see success,” Coffman said of the grant-funded program. “We are excited about the success of this program and want to thank all the teachers and staff members who make this program possible for our students.”

Coffman also informed board members and the public about a pair of Registration Portal help sessions happening in the next week. The events are scheduled for Oct. 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. and on Oct. 19 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Garfield Administrative Center, located at 518 S. 8th Street, Cambridge.

The help sessions will provide an opportunity for parents who have not been able to successfully access the district’s registration portal to gain access and to fill out mandatory back-to-school paperwork for their students. Staff members will be available to assist this online process. Computers and Wi-Fi will be available for people who do not have access at home.

In other business, the Board approved a resolution to enter into an agreement with Nationwide Children’s Hospital for the PAX Good Behavior program at the Primary and Intermediate schools for the 2021-2022 school year.

The board approved Dough Wilson as a custodian at the high school; Misti Dempsey, Ben Lawrence, Shawn Mobelini, Cami Marlatt, James Neff, Jeremy Tolbert, Chris Gebhart and Ross Carley as volunteers in the district; the unpaid leave of absence for Mary Ann Harless; the hiring of Scott Meredith as a regular cook at the High School; and Cynthia Pollock as a substitute teacher; Lisa Daugherty as a bus aid/mail courier; Alexe Nicholes as Middle School Washington D.C. trip coordinator; the retirement of Dan Linscott; and Lindsay Snyder as Multi-tiered Systems of Support file manager;
