Board Approves 2021-2022 School Calendar
The Cambridge City School District Board of Education approved the 2021-2022 School Calendar at their monthly meeting Tuesday.

A public hearing period was opened last month with the district sharing two draft versions of the calendar with the public. During the open period, which closed prior to Tuesday’s board meeting, a few comments were received and considered.

“The school calendar, as we know from the last two school years, can change but it is good to get the calendar approved and share it with our school families,” Coffman said. “We like to adopt the calendar as soon as possible so our school families can utilize that information to make holiday and vacation plans.”

The adopted calendar will be available on the district website at www.cambridgecityschools.org.

Coffman also updated the board on the COVID-19 vaccine. Through a partnership with Muskingum Valley Health Center, all employees of the district have the opportunity to be vaccinated next week.

During the treasurer’s report, Ed Wright recommended the Board accept the amounts and rates determined by the budget commission, authorize the necessary tax levies, and certify them to the county auditor. The board approved the resolution setting the total tax millage for the district at 35.35 mills which includes funding to the General Fund, the Permanent Improvement Fund and the Facilities and Maintenance Fund.

The board also approved a donation of $50,000 to the district from the John and Nancy Abbott Family Trust and granted the authority to purchase and install a Game Time – PrimeTime Play Structure and accessories at the Preschool located at Garfield Administrative Center.
Under personnel, the board approved unpaid leaves of absence for Tamara LePage, Julie Bishop, Lynn Kennedy and Jay Heady; approved Jack McElroy as a substitute custodian, approved Parker Long, Paige Mathews, Laney Carpenter and Katherine Henthrone for seasonal employment; and approved Jordan Risner as a substitute clerical/aid and a substitute teacher.

The board also approved several positions for the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant program including Aurora Dollins, Amanda Hursey and Heather Roberston as tutors; Jennifer LuAllen, Alexis Starr, Lisa Taylor and Roberston as teachers in the Middle School program; Taylor as a substitute teacher in the Middle School program; approved Roberson, and Starr as teachers in the Primary/Intermediate program; and Roberston and Starr as substitute teachers in both programs.

The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on March 9 at the Garfield Administrative Center.
