Communication with Community Important to CCSD
Cambridge City School District recognizes that communication with families and residents of the district about events, activities, and the daily decisions that impact our school district is important.

“As a school district, we communicate with several different audiences that include students, parents and community members,” CCSD Superintendent Dan Coffman said. “We want to try to reach those audiences in as many reliable, timely, and affordable ways as possible.”

While the district makes every effort to share information in various ways and through several outlets, it also invites the public to connect with the district as well. If you are interested in finding out more information about Cambridge City Schools, there are numerous ways to connect.

For many years, Cambridge, as well all other districts, relied on sending home information with students. And even though the “student express” has its challenges, like papers being lost in bookbags, it worked well for several years and continues to be a viable option.
As technology advanced and became more available and reliable, Cambridge went to an automated phone system where “all-call” messages are delivered via landline and mobile phones.

Both sending information home with students and phone calls are still utilized as is the traditional media. Each year the CCSD Board of Education designates an official newspaper for publication of notices required to be made in newspapers. The Daily Jeffersonian was designated again this year. You can see articles on the newspaper website at www.daily-jeff.com, although a digital subscription may be required.

The district also shares information with the local radio stations that is often shared on its’ broadcasts and on the stations’ website at www.yourradioplace.com.

Social media outlets are also used as a timely source of information. The district has several Facebook accounts that are used to communicate pertinent information. The pages are updated daily. Each school in the district has its own Facebook page which can be found by following the links provided.

Superintendent Coffman recently started sharing a monthly stream on the district Facebook page where he shares information and answers questions regarding the school district. The Livestream events are scheduled for 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month and coincide with the monthly board of education meeting.

The Cambridge City School District recently launched a new website (https://www.cambridgecityschools.org/ ) which features links to each school, photos of our students, news articles, important upcoming events, and links to other resources including the athletic website.
The website, still new, will soon feature an online parent portal called OneView, a product provided by a company called eschoolview. OneView is where parents will find the district’s annual student forms that previously would have been turned in on paper the first week of school.

“One of the reasons we decided to pursue a new website and work with this company is to improve the often-frustrating process for parents of filling out dozens of forms with much repetition of information,” Coffman said. “We believe OneView, once we get the kinks ironed out, will make life much easier for our families and our schools as we try to collect all the necessary information at the beginning of each school year.”

In addition to the website, OneView, and a new call system, the district is also rolling out an app. You can download it free from the App Store on iPhones or from the Google Play Store on android phones. The app is called Cambridge OH Schools in the stores.

The app provides an easy way to receive information from the school district’s social media platforms, provides links to district resources like its website and OneView, as well as a way to set up group conversations, and track homework assignments.

“We want to utilize as many communication options as possible to get pertinent information to our district families,” Coffman said. “If anyone has suggestions on other ways to disseminate information, please let us know.”
