CMS to Host Free Haircut Event
Preparing to return to school at the end of summer vacation can provide an overwhelming amount of stress to families. Buying school supplies, learning a new routine, meeting new teachers, etc. causes anxiety.

That is why Zac Anderson of Pathways Fellowship is planning a back-to-school haircut event at Cambridge Middle School for Monday, August 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“I know there are a lot of kids in our community who need and want haircuts,” said Anderson who is attending barber school. “I had an idea that will help take away some of the stress for parents and kids by providing cuts to kids in our community. Mr. Coffman (Cambridge Schools’ superintendent) agreed to help and offered to let us use the Middle School.”

The actual hair cutting will take place in the Middle School cafeteria while the gym will be open for those that are waiting so they can shoot hoops and hang out.

Haircuts will be provided by several students of Prince’s Barber Academy, Zac’s sister cosmetologist Andrea Anderson and a few other cosmetologists who are volunteering their time. Snacks will be provided by Tommy’s Pizza.

“At Cambridge City Schools, we try to provide as many services as possible to help our families and make sure our students’ needs are being met,” Coffman said. “When someone like Zac, a Cambridge alumnus, steps up to organize an event like this that benefits our students, we are super-appreciative.”

The event is open to any student in the community at any grade level.
