CHS Students Ready for HOCO 2022

While many alumni look forward to Homecoming to visit their alma maters, there are also quite a few activities for students who have yet to graduate high school. Cambridge High School is no exception as many long-honored traditions continue during Homecoming Week 2022.

The 2022 Homecoming Court, known in the hallways at “top 10” has been selected and announced with voting for the queen and king scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 3 and close on Thursday, Oc. 6 at noon. Ballots will be distributed to students via school email on Monday.

The court includes queen candidates Lainey Carpenter, Sarah Clifford, Riley Crupper, Ryan Dunning, Josie Fabian, Xylvia Francis, Braxton King, Lexis O’Donnell, Nevaeh Smith, and Kylie Taylor. King candidates are Davion Bahr, Xander Caldwell, Owen Feldner, Caden Moore, Andy Ogle, Beau Stottsberry, Trey Stottsberry, Steeler Sylvis, Jake Valentine, and Hunter Williams.

As is tradition, the queen and king will be announced and crowned prior to the start of the football game at McFarland Stadium on Friday, Oct. 7. The candidates will arrive in fancy convertibles starting at 6:30 p.m. and will all be introduced prior to the big announcement. Last year’s Queen and King – Ziciah Gibson and Jonah Stanberry – will present the crowns to this year’s royalty.

Earlier on Friday, the court will be introduced to the entire student body during a homecoming pep rally beginning at 1:30 p.m. that also includes

Weekend festivities will get started with the customary parade and bonfire on Thursday, Oct. 6. The homecoming parade will step off from the Scottish Rite parking lot at 6 p.m. and will make its way to the Little League parking lot. All are invited to come play games and pump up the Bobcats for a Friday night football win.

As a special feature this year, the Chick-fil-A food truck and Kona Ice truck will be there at the bonfire. In fact, the Chick-fil-A food truck will be at the Little League fields at the Cambridge City Park from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The weekend festivities will conclude with the homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 8 until 11 p.m. at the High School Auditorium. The theme of the dance is Fairytale Ball which connects with all the daily themes as well. Tickets will be sold during lunch periods and at the door.

Each day of the week has a special theme that fits in with the homecoming dance theme of Fairytale Ball.
  • Monday is Sleeping Beauty Day where students will wear their pajamas.
  • Tuesday is Little Mermaid Day with students invited to wear Hawaiian shirts.
  • Wednesday is Wonderland Day where students are asked to twin a friend like Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
  • Thursday is Rapunzel Day when students dress in clothes from another decade to hide their youth from Mother Gothel.
  • Friday is Kingdom Color Day when Seniors wear black, juniors wear white, sophomores where blue and freshmen were grey.

Homecoming 2022 will surely be a fairytale for students and alumni alike.
